Greater Things...

We made it!
After the long bus ride here, we have settled in our room and made sure we put more rice and beans into our stomachs before we go to bed.  Tomorrow we will rise and shine very early and get on the bus and head for the airport! After we land in S.P. we have nine hours to sit and enjoy each others company.

*to Mrs. Mickie, Marcello did get the jersey and I believe we have a picture too! Mrs Pat knows more of the details!
The team was trying their best to finish the medical building beside the church before we left today at noon.  It was tough work but the men seemed to have it under control.

We were able to go to houses and walk the streets today and evangelize.  It was another great experience.  Mother, David, a couple more Brazilians, and I were able to share the Gospel with five different families and two ladies accepted Christ today.  Many people are afraid to get out of their homes at night because of the danger that is rampant in their community.  We were able to experience a small taste of this while we were witnessing.  While talking to some Brazilian adults inside their home, my mother and I were told to leave and get inside a car. We were confused; but later our interpreter told us that the police were about to raid homes inside the neighborhood in which we were witnessing. It was a little scary, but God was protecting us.
Leaving today was sad.  It is getting harder as I get to know the children and adults living here.  I am growing more and more attached to this community.  I know that God has placed a strong desire in my heart for the people of Brazil, especially Bruno.  I pray that I will be able to return next year if that is what God calls me to do.  We had such a great time this year!

Here are some pictures from today!

She became a Christian today!
She prayed and accepted Jesus too!

On the road again...

Friday!

Oi!
or Hey!

We are about to load up the bus for another 6 hour ride back to Puerto Seguro.
Keep us in your prayers please!
I have so many pictures I can't wait to post. I will try to do that tonight when we make it to the hotel.
This has been such an amazing trip.  We are sad to leave, but at the same time hopeful for what is to come for the people of Bruno.

Weds/Thurs...

Hi everyone!!
So we continued our projects in the school.  Wednesday I did not have time to blog because I got sick with flu-like symptoms... I came back to the hotel to sleep for six hours during the afternoon.  That night, mother went with the group to the cascaria (my spelling might be off)... its a restaurant where they put cooked animals on a stick and serve them on your plate. (I might have exaggerated my dislike towards meat considering my anti-meat stance)-  They had a great time together.

Today, Thursday, I painted many many faces in the morning. It was a great experience to see the children's faces light up from something as simple as a heart or a Brazilian flag painted on their faces.  Mom continued to present the gospel in the glasses ministry.  Her Play-Dough plan of salvation technique has been well liked by the Brazilian people.
Tonight, we had a service in the church that we are helping out.  They are such gracious people that truly love the Lord.  It is amazing to see what God is doing in this poor community.  Even though we can see positive changes, we also notice that Satan is still alive and well, seeking to destroy this small village.
The people of Bruno will always have a place in my and my mother's heart.  I hope and pray I will be able to return next year.

Tuesday...

Another day has come and gone- It was very very busy today. Again I saw many children that I had seen last year.  I've caught something, I have a sore throat and that fun stuff.
We had lots and lots of children in the dental ministry today.  I am the American in the room that teaches the children and some of the mothers about Jesus and why I am here in Brazil.  I have to pretend I am a dentist after that and check each set of teeth for "holes" (also known as cavities). But much of the holes in the mouths take the shape that of a crater.  They're huge and many kids are in pain.  Going to the dentist is very expensive and these families cannot afford it.  We are able to refer them to a Christian dentist who gives them care for free.  Just another thing that I despise (going to the dentist) that I am reminded that I take for granted.
Mother worked in the glasses ministry again today and they saw many many people come in.  Each and every person is presented with the gospel.
I could go on with more stories, but since I'm feeling a little on the sick side I'm cutting it short and heading to bed.
We love and miss our friends and family! Hope everyone is doing well! Continue to pray for us please!

I LOVEE my translators, but of course miss the old ones too!
The red door I love that I have a picture of last year with a young boy standing outside.
Mother and I with our lovely Celcelia

Masseo- I was able to see this sweet boy again today.  He has a shy spirit, but lights up when I call his name.  I wish he knew the blessing he had on my life!

Gotta Love Mondays...

Hi everyone!  We had a great first day! We are working in the same city/area that we did last year.  I am brushing teeth in the very same spot.  This is an extremely rare opportunity to be able to go back to the very same place.  I've seen so many children that I saw last year, which is really neat to see how far they've come in their relationship with Christ and the Church.
On a much more superficial note, my mother and I had a dilemma for much of today.  We started off with a Coke "Light" that we had reserved for mornings like these.  As we were walking down that steep hill to meet our tasty plate of food, we looked at each other and said at nearly the same time, "it's time for a diet coke".  Shallow, I know.  But some things are just THAT important.  We see the kind lady laying out the drinks for us.  We eye the Coke Zeros and before I knew it- yes, it happened.  Four Coke Zeros. (The only Coke Zeros) Were grabbed and we were left empty handed.  We were forced to be healthy and have water with our lunch.  When 5:00 rolled around, we were standing together, mother and daughter, as a pair of zombies dreaming about the cokes stored in our refrigerator.  The lack of diet coke in ones system can really affect the the performance level of women, such as ourselves.

Another thing for those of you that know "Rae Anne" so well-  I have begun a tally of the number of people that say "Wow, your teeth are soooo white!!"  It makes me laugh every time.  I think its getting to her too. She doesn't talk anymore in order to hide her fluorescent whites.  Just kidding. She'll never stop talking.  As a matter of fact, one of our interpreters asked her what she thought her talents were. She is a woman of many, but I consider talking her greatest ability.

All in all today was wonderful.  It was pretty cold, cloudy, and wet.  At the end of the day, when we were packing up, we saw a rainbow.  It was encouraging.  We saw many children and adults give their lives to Christ, and we are looking forward to what God has in store for us tomorrow!

This is Matteo (the boy from last year that was locked inside his home.  We were able to reach through the roof in order to give him food) It was amazing getting to see him again!!

We Made It!!

We are very glad to inform everyone that we have made it to our work site in Brazil! We are verrry happy to be here at the same hotel as last year.  The flights went very smoothly.  Mother and I lucked out on the over-night flight... The airline must have known that I suffer from "long-legged syndrome" and luckily we got the seats on the Exit row (which means lots of extra leg room!)
I was pleased!
After we arrived at the tiny tiny airport of Puerto Seguro, we hopped in the bus and traveled six hours to get here! The bus was no surprise to us, well-traveled folk from crossgates (ha), but it brought many many bumps and swerves while FLYING down the narrow mountainous roads.  The most delightful moment was when the bus nearly flew off the side of the mountain. No lie, if we had two more people on the right hand side of the bus, it would have been our time to go.  Needless to say, it was quite a day and we are very blessed and excited to be here and see a bed and shower.

I'll be sure to post some more pictures tomorrow when I can, but this is what I have so far!
Buenos Noche! (I think that's good night)

 Waiting in Jackson

Sweet Mrs Pat having to put up with talkative mother! Hilarious picture
My Leg Room!!

They should have reconsidered who they put in charge of the exits.

Gotta love that McDonald's- and diet coke of course.

Excuse my appearance- those were some lonnng flights!

Just Kidding...

We arrived at the giant airport of Jackson,MS and found out that our plans had been slightly changed- The flight was canceled due to "bad weather".  So, we had the privilege of standing around chatting with the Continental person (I emphasize the word person, not people) for 4 hours.  Our hope is to fly out tomorrow afternoon.  Please be praying that this will work out for us!
